I've Got That Parisian Feeling

Sweater - Joe Fresh; Skirt - Club Monaco; Pumps - Reed Krakoff; Tights - The Bay; Necklace and Earrings - Gifted

For some reason this outfit and these pictures made me feel very Parisian. Maybe it was the colourless outfit or perhaps it was the 'cute-sweater-tucked-into-an-A-line-skirt-and-tights-leaning-up-against-a-very-French-door' look of the pictures. In any case, my photographer (ahem, DJB) did an excellent job of capturing this look as well as the gorgeous trees in the background.

Same Pants, Different Colour

Pants and Blouse - BCBG; Denim jacket - ONLY; Heels - Badgley Mischka; Earrings & Necklace - Swarowksi; Watch - Bulova

I loved these pants so much, I decided to buy them in red as well (plus they were on sale)! They have been tucked away all winter so I was excited to finally dig them out. I dressed them up with these blingy sandals and evened out the glam with a distressed denim jacket.

These pics were snapped at Bois de Boulogne (see post here) and i'm afraid that passers by who watched me change from my flat walking shoes to my blog-picture taking heels may have thought I was a "working girl" getting ready for her shift at the forest.  Check out yesterdays post if you're not quite sure what I'm referring to. :P

Bois de Boulogne

A few days ago we headed to the Bois de Boulogne. This massive green area is about a 30 minute walk from our place. It's over twice the size of Central Park and there are a ton of things to do here, including picking up prostitutes....(but that is only in one small part of the park). Here are some pictures of the lake area of the park (not the prostitution part).

So there isn't much to say about this area other than it's beautiful and there are a lot of boats and ducks.

But the ducks (and geese) are really cute...
The lack of rain hasn't stopped the flowers (yet).
This is a great picture!
We just found out there is a driving range (golf) here, so we will definitely be heading back to the Bois de Boulogne.

Pants - Jacob; Tank - BCBG; Cardigan - H&M; Sandals - Velika; Necklace - RoxOn; Ring - Venice

I have really embraced prints and love pairing two completely opposite printed pieces together. See the above and below photos, for example. A leopard print cardigan and flowery printed pants seem like they would definitely clash but for some reason end up going really well together. It also helps to add a matching colour palette in the form of shoes or a handbag/clutch. I chose a nice soft brown strappy sandal.

Brights and Pastels

Jeans - Guess; Peplum top - H&M; Blazer - Wilfred; Wedges - Kelsi Dagger; Cuff - Club Monaco; Necklace - The Bay

For our outing to Fontainebleau (which you can read all about HERE) I decided to experiment with mixing bright blue pieces and soft pink. It ended up looking really nice, which was quite surprising as I would normally stick with all bright colours or all pastels. The backdrop to this photo shoot is the chateau gardens in this small French town. This peaceful and picturesque place was a nice change from the hustle and bustle (and sometimes smog) of Paris...for just one day. I'm always happy to come back home, even after a short day trip!

On Saturday, we took advantage of the sun and headed to Fontainebleau. Fontainebleau is located 60kms south of Paris. It is famous for the chateau Fontainebleau and amazing forest. People from Fontainebleau are called Bellifontains, I have no idea why I find that funny. The town is also home to the business school INSEAD.

We took the RER (our second RER experience), it's a short walk from the tain station to the forest, which leads to the city center / chateau.

It's a very idyllic 20 minute walk through the forest to the chateau. Unlike the time when we went to to the Bois de Boulongne, we encountered no prostitutes on our stroll. We stopped for some baguette sandwiches before entering the chateau garden so that we could have this view during our lunch.

The chateau gardens were amazing, not as elaborate as Versailles, but it was amazingly deserted for such a beautiful Saturday.

We didn't actually go into the chateau, because if you've seen one chateau, you've seen them all :) That might be just my opinion!

The town itself is cute.

We spent an amazing day wandering around. The day ended with a perfect stroll back to the train station along the "grand canal".
